David and Rosemary were taking his sister Diane to the Iris
Gardens and invited us to go with them
The flowers were pretty impressive, even though they were
past their best.
We have been planning to visit the gardens for some time,
and were quite pleased when David and Rosemary made up our minds for us!
There are lots of seating areas, but we were surprised that
there were no refreshments on sale.
Next time we will bring our own picnic
An unusual photo of Jan and I looking like holiday makers –
not a haversack or walking boots in sight.
It would be hard to find a more impressive location for the
gardens, with the Bernia providing the background.
It was pretty warm by the time we arrived and we were
pleased to find this shady spot to have a rest and a chat.
We
enjoyed our visit enough to want to return again
Next time we will ring first and confirm when it is best to visit to see the flowers at their best
