21 May 2012 – Javea Port

We met at Javea Port for the last walk of the season before our four month summer break.
Pat led the walk, which starts with a pretty steep climb up the hill overlooking the harbour
A short break is a good opportunity for a group photo
At this time of year it is often too hot to walk far, let alone climb.   But we were lucky to have much cooler weather today, ideal for walking
From the lighthouse there are fantastic views of Javea, the coast and the mountain
Then an easy walk across to the old tower, passing some pretty impressive flowers on the way
The return journey is downhill on these badly constructed steps.........
......which do little to make the descent any more comfortable....
....though there are impressive sea views to take your mind off the path
After lunch it’s an even steeper hill climb
Including a chain assisted section
Which Mike seems to find easier than Jan
At the end of the walk Peter is able to change his boots for his new foot wear (of which he is very proud)
The harbour bar is a very appropriate place to end our last walk of the Spring season
Thanks to Pat and the whole group for so many enjoyable walks and lovely memories.   Jan and I will miss you all during the long summer months when it is too hot to walk.   We look forward to seeing you all again in October

Next Walk – Monday 1 October 2012
Meet at Masymas car park in Javea at 10am
